Eph 5:25-29, 31
in marriages, we are called and to agree on three aspects of love namely eros(sexual, love of the body), philio (friendship), and agape( more of parental, mature, sacrificial kind of love)
in this verse, it is agape love husbands are being called for-the kind of love Jesus had-sacrificing His life for you and me. Husbands need Jesus to exercise this kind of love. Jesus will give this supernatural love and not just friendship or sexual love.
it is a serving love, Christ was a servant, a sacrificing love, Christ died. how should husbands apply the agape kind of love? first , they need Jesus.
